Extending last year’s excitement from 30,000 feet up in the sky for world-wide travelers, this year’s brand new “2023 New Taipei Theater” is ready to kick off! The New Taipei City Documentary Film Award once again collaborates with Eva Airline this year. This wonderful news is announced by New Taipei City’s Mayor Hou You-yi and the chairman of Eva Air Lin Bao-shui today (19th). From this day on, a new season of selected films from NTCDF Award will be launched on Eva Airline’s in-flight entertainment system. For the purpose of bringing New Taipei City’s documentaries to a better and higher place, in addition to the collaboration with Eva Airline to bring the films to all possible destinations around the world, a new network will be launched this year on LINE TV platform with a lucky draw event including plane tickets as one of the prize!
The Department of Information of New Taipei City Government held the press conference for “Fly Higher! 2023 New Taipei Theater” today (19th), announcing the new plans of this annual collaboration and how the films can break the rule of time and region to be simultaneously launched all at once. A special camera filter will also be launched, the users will get chances to win the grand prizes sponsored by Eva airline. The Department of Information cooperated exclusively with Eva Airline last year (2022) for New Taipei Theater, allowing the selected films from New Taipei City Documentary Film Award to be shown on the plane rides, connecting New Taipei City to the world and have received great feedback from the travelers and image creators.
With the purpose of expanding a variety of screening channels, New Taipei City also decided to cooperate with OTT platform this year and launch the selected documentaries from the festival onto the LINE TV platform. Travelers can enjoy the films without interruption during their Eva Air ride, yet those without a near traveling plan can also connects with the excitement through the borderless network of the OTT platform.
Mayor Hou stated, “What’s right must be done.” New Taipei City has been taking real actions to support documentary creation for 13 years, accepting all world-wide diversity with an open mind. Not long ago, a director has told the mayor that this is not an easy task for government agencies and the positive impact of The New Taipei City Documentary Film Award on the society is definitely getting stronger. New Taipei City is thankful for the “right” cooperation with Eva Airline and all the support form filming crews. The City will continue to work hard and become the strongest back up for the documentary creators. New Taipei City has always been the “documentary-friendly city.” The Mayor emphasized, New Taipei City has been actively bringing The New Taipei City Documentary Film Award to the outside world. In early May, Department of Information has visited the Singapore Chinese Film Festival, wishing to open up NTCDF’s vision and also connects New Taipei City with the world through directors’ camera shots and show the globe more about Taiwan.
The chairman of Eva Airline, Lin Bao-shui, mentioned, “This is the second year for us to collaborate with New Taipei City to bring New Taipei Theater on the airplane. “2023 New Taipei Theater” follows the pattern of releasing a season of films every two months with a total of 12 selected documentaries including: “The Walkers” by director Singing Chen, “Faces of a Taiwanese Actress” by director Jean-Robert Thomann, “Ms Lin：The Retouching Lady” by director Lin Shih-chun in May; “Freestyle football boys in a fading town” by Ho Ting-ting director, “Father” by Huang Chia-chun director, “A Tayal” by Laha Mebow director in July; “We want to get married” by Hsu Ching-lun director, “Migration Revelation” by Lin Huan-wen director, “My dear lines” by Zhang Nan director in September; “After Crossing” by Chan Lok-hei director, “K9 Canine” by Chang Wei-chih director, “The road of life” by Chou Wen-chin director in November. A wide variety of topics, real images and all the different life stories are waiting for you to discover in the 2023 New Taipei Theater, welcoming everyone to enter the world of documentaries.”
