Drawing on a wide range of topics, including human stories, family relationships, disadvantaged groups, care for the land, environmental protection, health care, cultural transmission, historic exploration, music and art, indigenous peoples, and gender studies, this year’s select films offer exciting life accounts spread across different groups and regions. Included are 12 films: Chang Wei-Chih’s “Spiral of Silence,” Li I-Hsuan’s “Mutualism,” Wei Lu-Lee’s “Doctors to Be,” Chen Yen-Hao’s “The Rookie Chief in Duke Hill,” Huang Yin-Yu’s “Plateau of the Gods,” Chen Wei-Cih’s “Adventure of Styrofoam,” Chang Ming-Yu’s “Impermanence,” Zhang Nan’s “My Dear Lines,” Tsai Chia-Hsuan’s “Moving in Between,” Chou Shao-Chiang’s “Andy and Ailin,” Sin Ho-Yeung’s “Our Second Home,” and Chan Tze-Woon’s “Dream Residue.” In the future, New Taipei City will continue to support the documentary film industry. We will expand the influence of the city’s documentaries as we seek to become a global center of Chinese documentary film.
