Shuttling between real-life settings and images, everything seen and heard are actual dialogues and events that have occurred. It delivers a more impactful and emotionally resonant experience than “adaptation from a true story” with more heart-wrenching and moving scenes. Without actors performing, life itself is a drama without an ending. And that’s the unique charm of “documentary film.” Transmitting these real-life images to the general public is the original intention behind the establishment of the “New Taipei City Documentary Film Award.”
As a form of recording individuals and society, documentaries lead people into different worlds and witness different wonders of life. They serve as a national album, in an age of abundant information and complexity, preserving authentic messages of this era like a pure stream that touches people's hearts and leaving behind profound emotions. The NTCDF has been held for 13 years so far. We look forward to providing documentary filmmakers with the best assistance and the greatest support. In recent years, with the challenges posed by the difficult filming process and rising production costs, the NTCDF also keeps pace with the times by increasing production funds. We hope to offer more support to the selected teams and encourage documentary filmmakers to continue advancing on the path of documentary filmmaking. Along this journey, the NTCDF has been there throughout.
We want to express our gratitude to all the selected teams, judges, lecturers, and documentary filmmakers who have contributed to the documentary industry. The NTCDF is willing to be the nourishment that nurtures a field known as “documentary film”, making documentaries flourish even more. We hope that the documentaries can be see by more people and exert social influence on factual storytelling.
