[New Taipei City News] The new season of "New Taipei Theater," now in its third year, took off today (8th), kicking off the New Taipei City Documentary Film Awards series of activities. To actively expand its international reach, the New Taipei City Government's Department of Information has invited Jian Manshu, who is not only an actress but also a director and screenwriter. Jian won the Golden Bell Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Program in 2021 for her performance in the drama "The Arc of Life." She serves as the annual event ambassador, jointly witnessing the excitements at 30,000 feet.

 

Today (8th), the New Taipei City Government's Department of Information held the "2024 New Taipei Theater Press Conference." New Taipei City Mayor Hou Youyi, EVA Air President Clay Sun, and event ambassador Jian Manshu jointly announced that starting today, selected works from the new season of the "New Taipei City Documentary Film Awards" will be available on EVA Air's in-flight entertainment system on all routes. Following the positive feedback from last year's diverse broadcasting channels, the documentary films of the "New Taipei City Documentary Film Awards" will also be available on the LINE TV online video platform. At the press conference, event ambassador Jian Manshu shared the highlights of the documentaries and announced upcoming online and offline lectures, outdoor screenings, and other activities, inviting everyone to watch and experience the charm of documentary films together.

Mayor Hou Youyi stated that New Taipei City has always maintained a diverse and inclusive attitude, welcoming documentary films from around the world to participate in the New Taipei City Documentary Film Awards. The city actively expands domestic and international promotion and broadcasting channels. He thanked the partner EVA Air for its support of documentary films. Through the "New Taipei Theater," regardless of nationality and breaking boundaries, the world can see the excellent works of the New Taipei City Documentary Film Awards. The New Taipei City Government will continue its efforts to make documentary films with diverse themes and authentic and unique narratives meet global travelers in every journey, spreading inspiration everywhere.

The "2024 New Taipei Theater" will continue its two-month period of screening, featuring 12 selected documentary films showcasing diverse themes and different life experiences. The films include: in May, director Hsu Chinglun's "Poetry of Life," director Zhang Hong-Jie's "Hearing from the Dolphin," and director Yu Chiaoting's "Family"; in July, director Lu Hsiaowen's "Child Portrait," director Zhang Surong's "The Journey of Becoming Truku" and directors Chiu Chi Liang and Li Jingru's "25 Kg"; in September, director Shih Yu-Lun and Lin Hao-shen's "The Man Who Cannot Be Excluded," director Wu Po-hung's "The TASHI Village," and director Chen Weicih's "Elephant on the Island"; and in November, director Lin Huan-wen's "Grand Slam Dream," director Chou Shao-Chiang's "Andy and Ailin," and director Li I-hsuan's "Mutualism," inviting global travelers to enter the world of documentaries.

The News Bureau stated that this year, they specially invited artist Jian Manshu to serve as the event ambassador, jointly supporting the "New Taipei City Documentary Film Awards," exploring the diverse themes of New Taipei's documentaries deeply at 30,000 feet high up in the sky and bringing excitements to the journey. To encourage more Taiwanese people to participate in the "New Taipei Theater," this year, they will expand the physical exhibition on the 1st floor of the New Taipei City Hall, allowing visitors to understand the New Taipei City Documentary Film Awards, which have a place in the documentary field, and how they start from New Taipei and actively aim internationally. Through the "New Taipei Theater," seeds will be planted in the hearts of travelers around the world, spreading the influence of Taiwanese documentaries.

The Department of Information announced that on May 11, they will also plan two parent-child education seminars to deepen the influence of documentary films and simultaneously launch an online lottery raffle activity.
