[New Taipei City News] The New Taipei City Government is collaborating with the Taiwan Film Festival in Boston Association, inaugurating a partnership with today's (Aug 17th) signing of the "New Taipei City Documentary Film Award and Taiwan Film Festival in Boston Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony and Annual Feature Video." New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-Ih graced the event alongside Dr. Lan Fan-Yun, the founding president of the Taiwan Film Festival of Boston Association, Dr. Lisa Kang, the festival chair and the event ambassador, actress Jian Man-Shu. They expressed hope that more outstanding New Taipei documentaries will be showcased on the international stage in the future.

 

Since its inception in 2019, the Taiwan Film Festival of Boston (TFF Boston) has collaborated with the New Taipei City Government to feature films selected from the "New Taipei City Documentary Film Award" for the past six years. This year, two films were chosen: "Wild Road" by director Chen Qiao-Wei and "The Tale of Ino Yumin" by director Huang Shu-Mei, both of which will be screened at the TFF Boston on September 28 and 29, Eastern Time Zone.

Mayor Hou Yu-Ih noted that this year marks the 14th anniversary of the New Taipei City Documentary Award, which has witnessed the growth and inspiring stories of New Taipei. The New Taipei City Government is proactively collaborating with international film festivals, and the signing of this MOU with the "Boston Taiwan Film Festival" is a testament to this effort. He expressed enthusiasm for the increased global outreach this new MOU represents, hoping to convey Taiwan's resonating stories and heartwarming moments across the ocean through these documentaries and fostering cultural exchanges through the universal language of film.

Dr. Lan Fan-Yun, the founding president of the Taiwan Film Festival of Boston Association, shared that the association is dedicated to promoting Taiwanese films. He noted that Taiwanese documentaries screened at the TFF Boston always receive enthusiastic responses from international audiences. He expressed hope that today’s MOU signing will help bring Taiwanese documentaries to every corner of the globe.

Event ambassador Jian Man-Shu shared her excitement about being invited to serve as the ambassador for this year's "New Taipei City Documentary Film Award." She mentioned that this role gave her the opportunity to explore new locations she had never visited before, discovering the rich urban landscape and cultural scenery of New Taipei City. She encouraged filmmakers to capture the stories of New Taipei, inviting more people to experience the charm of New Taipei City.

According to the Information Department of the New Taipei City Government, the New Taipei City Documentary Film Award continues to be a strong advocate for documentary filmmakers. In addition to bringing these creative works to Boston, it is also deeply committed to expanding the influence of documentary films domestically. For documentary enthusiasts, the Department has organized outdoor summer screenings, with one scheduled for August 31 on the lawn in front of the Sustainable Development Education Center in Bali District and another on September 14 at the Zhongli Galaxy Square in Taoyuan City.
