[New Taipei City News] The 15th anniversary celebrations of the New Taipei City Documentary Award have officially begun. Today (7th), the New Taipei City Government’s Department of Information teamed up with EVA Air and the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra to host the "Emotions in the Skies: 15th Anniversary Concert of the New Taipei Documentary Award", marking the launch of the 2025 New Taipei Theater. The celebrations will continue in July with domestic and international documentary screenings, and culminate in October with the 2025 Documentary Award Ceremony. All documentary enthusiasts are welcome to join in the festivities.
New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-Yi stated that for 15 years, the New Taipei Documentary Award have remained true to their mission, offering practical support in both funding and production, and have become one of Taiwan's strongest supporters of documentary filmmakers. He expressed gratitude to EVA Air for their continuous partnership, which has allowed New Taipei documentaries to reach international audiences. He also expressed hope that these films, like classical music, will leave a lasting legacy.

Sun Chia-Ming, President of EVA Air, remarked that the airline is honored to continue its collaboration with the New Taipei City Government on the Skyscape Film Festival, now in its fourth year. Over the years, nearly 40 outstanding documentary works have flown across the globe with EVA Air, offering international travelers a glimpse into Taiwan’s vibrant documentary scene. He also thanked the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra for their stirring performance at the concert, which was met with an enthusiastic response—tickets were snapped up in less than three days. He encouraged everyone to enjoy and support the film festival during their next EVA Air flight.
Li Li-Chen, Commissioner of the Department of Information, noted that the concert marked the opening of the year-long anniversary activities. Starting in May, travelers flying with EVA Air can enjoy the 2025 New Taipei Theater through the in-flight entertainment system. In July, the festival will feature a curated retrospective of past award-winning documentaries. In October, the Award Ceremony will announce the top three winners and Jury Special Award of the year, along with premiere screenings of the newly selected documentaries—ensuring the celebration of New Taipei’s documentaries continues all year long.
The Department also highlighted the concert program, which included performances of "Rainy Night Flower," "Longing for the Spring Breeze," "Mountain Suite," "Memory," and "Cinema Paradiso", accompanied by footage from past documentaries and trailers of this year’s 12 selected films—creating a powerful and emotional experience that led to tickets being fully reserved in under three days.
